When will Substance 3D Modeler be available for Mac? Or even a beta version for it?

I was quite shocked, when I heard that Adobe dimension will no longer be updated. I love this simple way of bringing 2D packaging design on simple 3D models to life and present them sometimes via AR (Adobe Aero) to my customers. And all this included in my monthly Adobe CC Graphic Design package.

The monthly 3D package (Adobe Substance) would cost me an extra 50 € per month without having the possibility of modeling my own 3D models so far?!

So, I would apreciate to hear from you, whether you plan a mac-based Substance 3D Modeler in the near future or not? And if it will still be possible to use Adobe Dimension with my Adobe Graphic package.

According to that, I was really disappointed to hear/see that Adobe Photoshop will quit all 3D content creation in the future. So I will not be able to create simple WebOBJ data in Photoshop and import that to Dimension???

If there will be no clear statement from Adobe concerning this topic, I probably will jump over to Blender and use that one for my future 3D-works and -presentations.

It is all very disappointing!

Cheers Jan

Hi! Thanks for approaching community with your thoughts. To answer your points.

  • Yes, Susbtance Suite is an add on for USD 50/mo extra. However, you can trial substance apps through your CC for 30 days free of cost. Substance Suite is also being offered for 50% off until Nov 4th.
  • Mac-based Substance 3D Modeler is confirmed for future release but does not have a current ETA. It's actively in process as we know designers are often Mac-inclined, but to be fully transparent it might not happen right away.
  • On your point about Dimension, Dimension will still remain available, but Substance Suite has a software called Stager that allows for more granular work of what Dimension does. See here for official announcement and what is happening with Dimension.

It sounds like a lot of your workflow is Photoshop/Illustrator into Dimension. This link from the most recent Adobe MAX keynote might interest you https://youtu.be/OfQKEzgPaBA?t=6398 It talks about how you can transfer what you make in 2D into 3D in a more dynamic way with the suite. If that interests you, we have numerous other tutroials wiuthin the substance suite than can output/elevate your final renders if that's what you're looking for.

Ultimately, even if you do move toward Blender, the 3D objects still have full compatability with other apps in Susbtance Suite. There's tonnes of avenues to go down, and I'm more than happy to help you find what's best for you.

It would be interesting.

But until the release is announced the official statement that a Mac-version is planned is about all Adobe employees can provide.

That might be true, but at some point Adobe will have to at least have a projected release schedule.

I had a very bad surprise when I investigated why Modeler is not available for Mac, and found that this problem has been going on since November 2022 without resolution. I have no faith that it will be released for Mac. We will have to look for other alternatives...

Yes, very disappointing, and even more so since your message dated 2022 and nothing has changed!
For some time now, Adobe has been mocking its customers instead of updating Dimension. They decided to take the body of Dimension and repaint it to make us believe it's a new car. The price is outrageous, and the modeling functionality on Mac is incomplete? Seriously!

They are abandoning important software and not considering the time users have spent working with these software and production files. I call this a joke! The Pantone chart is no longer in the software, and it's really a big joke, just like the disappearance of Edge, Muse, Golive and many others! They have lost a lot of points and my trust.

I am also wondering when we will have an update to when Substance 3D Modeler will be avaliable to MAC users.  Our company has been interested in the Substance line for some time. We've been keeping our eyes open, but we certainly are not putting any money into it without the 3D Modeler.  Would love to know anything!

Much Appreciated,

Rach

This is getting INSANE that Modelor is STILL not available to Mac users in the 3D package this long after a PC release. It's essentially Adobe's version of zBrush and Zbrush has been on Mac FOREVER. I don't see how such a deep/monolithic company as Adobe is struggling in any way with a Mac port of this... Especially when they've developed and integrated AI into everything within a year since the PC version of Modeller was released and Midjourney has been a thing. 👎

Will there by any comment from adobe-officials? Its now nearly 1 year ago, since we last saw a comment that this is "confirmed for future release" – but nothing so far.

So: When will be the Substance Modeler will be released on Mac / or its not going to be?

A fair statement would be really great...

As far as I know Adobe employees are, for legal reasons, not at liberty to announce release dates etc. on a Forum like this.

So while I agree that some further clarification about the state of porting would be nice that may be more complicated than it seems …

After a year of silence and the fact that Adone charges the full amount of the 3D suite to Mac users, I expect an official response from someone authorized to speak out about the status of 3D Modeler for macOS and why they're not providing a discount on the suite to these users. They're welcome to follow that up with a vague time frame (Q1, Q2, etc) but honestly, everyone knows software dates slip and no one will hold them to anything as long as it's not an exact date. If they said it would be available on November 18th, I'd expect that. If they said early Q2 2024, I'd expect it sometime in Q2, maybe even early Q3.

Wrong discussion.

Stager isn't the one people are asking for, it's modeler.

Is there any update on the release date for 3d Modeler on Mac?

I'm afraid you can wait a long time for that. Adobe is neither interested in making the 3D suite completely ARM compatible nor in porting the Modeler to the Mac in the near future. But you can pay the Adobe rip-off artists for the useless 3D suites.

Genau das ist auch mein Anliegen! Wann ist es geplant das Adobe Modeler auf MAC OS zur Verfügung steht?

I totally hear you and I'be been a big fan of Dimension and also a mac user dying to try Modeler. I've been learning Blender to help me and noticed some new bugs on Dimension (no longer syncing with Adobe Library) and it's sad to know they won't update anymore.
