Adobe Animate deleted my .fla file after trying to export it.

Question

I tried to export a pretty big Animate File, (about 200 MB I think)
It was taking a little while so i canceled the render, made sure to save the file, and then closed every window except for Animate.
Tried to export again, and this time it got to the point where Media Encoder opens, but media encoder crashed.
Canceled the export, tried to save my file but the save option was greyed out because I already saved.
Closed Animate so i could open it again and try to render my .fla.

When I opened Animate, i noticed my file wasn't in the open recent list, it wasn't anywhere on my computer either.

All i have is a swf file of the animation that i can still view in flash player. Any way to recover my file?

Hi.

I'm really sorry for this.

Make sure to make a copy of your SWF in a safe location.

There are basically four things you can try to recover your work:

- Search for the auto-recovery FLA files that Animate creates like described here;

- Rename the .fla to .zip and/or .rar and try to recover it using WinRAR or another similar archiving program. Then rename the file back to .fla;

- Try to recover deleted files from the file system in the Recycle Bin / Trash or by using softwares like Recuva;

- Decompile the most recent exported SWF.
