Adobe - What is happening to Animate?
I really hope someone at a higher-management level position at Adobe can see this (and if you work at adobe and know someone, please forward this to whom its relevant).
Adobe Animate stands as a creative playground for aspiring and professional animators the world over. Certainly, compared to Toonboom or other industry level animation softwares, animate may seem limited at first, and perhaps Adobe considers instead to let it die, because whose using it? Without an overhaul rebuild from the ground up, maybe Animate will never compete with Toonboom for industry level animation. But maybe it's not supposed to. Where does Animate fit in the future of content creation?
Animate began as a foundational staple for aspiring animators growing up with the internet who learned that they could create worlds and tell stories and bring characters to life - and there is so much potential with this app that to let it die is a waste without reward. It's educational value as well as industry potential is rich - all it needs is some love and care and Animate could take the world by storm once more.
Animate's simplicity is delightful, it's clean and elegant and allows you to tell short-or-long form animation elegantly, and the way it pairs with After Effects through SWF (though of course, aged and decaying as it is) is a magical combination that should not be lost.
I understand that Adobe may look at it and see a dying software, outdated in the age of AI and where other applications lead the industry - but animate is the best entry point for animators getting started, and an oustanding tool even at high levels for making great works.
I stand with thousands of other Animate fans and users when I say that this app deserves a champion - someone to lead the Animate Team to update it, evolve it, redesign it a bit as needed and take it to the next level where it can really shine the way it was meant to. Bring the development team back from India into Western hands, put some inspired people who love animation and programming behind it, and see what they can do. You will be amazed. This is an amazing app, all it needs is some love and care.
Thanks for reading.
