Question

-3db function

Hi all,

I want to normalise dozens of songs to -3db in Audition. I am able to normalise them individually, I add 20 songs at a time into CD layout and then go into 'favourites' and click on 'normalise to -3db'. This works a treat but takes forever doing every song one by one. There must be a way to normalise 20 songs at a time to -3bb surely?

Any help would be truly appreciated.

Thanks, Paul.

I'm afraid there isn't. Each song will have its own individual peak level, and this has to be established and measured before Audition knows exactly how much to alter that level, and correspondingly the relative levels of the rest of the file to meet your requirements. There's no shortcut possible for this process at all - it's process-intensive.

Thanks Steve, I'll just keep doing each one individually then as I was. It was worth asking all the same.

You could try doing this as a normal batch process. If you do that, and set the number of concurrent processes to 2 or three max, it might go a bit faster... You can alter this value in Settings, but if you select a high value, the whole thing is likely to grind to a halt. This is because at heart it's a disc-based operation using a temp file, and these are very corruption-prone.
