44.1 to 48hz to acc "Chopped & Screwed"

I grabbed a 44.1/160k Mp3 file into Au Multitrack and added some basic eq and verb. I created 3 tracks and did some panning tricks.

When I export it the tempo and pitch are lower than the original. It sounds what is known as " Chopped & Screwed ".

How can i stop that from happening?

    But what sample rate is your Multitrack session set to? So the mix sounds OK pitch/tempo wise when playing back in the Session but changes when you Export the mix? What format and sample rate did you export the file as? And how/where were you listening to it when it sounded screwed?

    I made  the multi track 48./24 which is where the problem is but i have no method for reversing the effect. I could create new session and re-mix but this one is very very nice. I probably would not be able to get the same result.

    i did the wrong thing with that i think. What i was tempting to do is allow for more space for effects. Which i thought was in the bit rate but i change both of the main settings thinking i was some kind of genius. Then while mixing i remembered that the sample rate is a RATE but thought i would be ok if i could export it the way it played in session. Similar to converting video into a wider codec to get a slightly better color grade.

    Now, look how smart i am. lol

    If you saved the mix at 44.1k you could try opening the file in Audition's Waveform view again. Go to Interpret Sample Rate from the Edit menu and select 48kHz and see if that then plays at the correct pitch and tempo. If it sounds OK then do a Save As and change the saved sample rate back to 44.1k.
