Adobe 3.0 Windows 10 22H2 Crashes on start up

Can anyone help me out? I have been running Adobe Audition 3.0 for years, I had purchased it years ago (I started out from Cool Edit which was bought by Adobe and bought various upgrades up to Audition 3.0) and has been on my machine that has been upgraded from Windows 7-64bit through to Windows 10 21H2 and Audition 3.0 has been happily working. It's my go-to Stereo editor (so much better than Audacity). It has been running in Windows 10 22H2, but I did get a few crashes. However, since I installed the latest Windows 10 updates and fixes it has truly "fixed" Audition (it also seems to have broken Adobe Premiere CS3 as well). I uninstalled it in case some files were corrupted ran a cleaner, uninstalled it and tried to install it from my DVD. That was fun since I had forgot that the activation servers have been down for a long time and the uninstallation did not go easy. Luckily, I must have had the foresight some years back to have downloaded the version with the universal serial and I have the serial. So I installed that. It also crashes on start-up. I did update to 3.01 still the same problem. On the face of it CompilerVfw.prm seems to be part of the issue not sure why but I'm guessing something about the behaviour of that file doesn't sit well with Windows 10. I renamed the file to _CompilerVfw.srm tried to launch and it goes further in to the loader but then comes up with a DirectX error. I got a copy of CompilerVfw.prm from an old Windows 7 machine I have still crashes. I've reverted back to the original file now. Is this something to do with Windows Protected folders? I tried all the compatibility modes and run as administrator but it still crashes.

Here's the log file:

-------- Plugin Loading Log ------------

Loading from root path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\en_US
Scanning for the following file types: *.prmp, *.prm, *.dll, *.aex, *.8bf

Scanning C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\en_US and sub-directories

Loading C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\en_US\CompilerVfw.prm
There was an error loading C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\en_US\CompilerVfw.prm from the plugin cache
The registry key will be deleted and the plugin will be loaded from disk.

After trying a whole host of solutions, drivers, DISM, SFC, windows updates and repair attempts in place upgrade etc. I built a clean Windows installation from scratch. As I have an SSD removable caddy in my Audio Workstation for my OS, this was not as painful as it could have been. Installed Audition and it worked perfectly. I put my original SSD back in and it still crashed today I think I found the culprit! System settings | Advanced System Settings | Performance | Performance Options | Data Execution Prevention it was set to DEP for all programs except exceptions. Now I had gone down this path before and added Audition as an exception and it didn't fix the problem. I set DEP for essential Windows programs and services only rebooted and Tada! Audition worked again. I remember a while ago Avast got me to change from this setting to the more onerous one above.
