What you have to do for a start is tell us whether this is on a Mac or a PC (that can make a big difference), exactly what you've tried, what you have connected in the way of an input, and whether you're trying to record in Waveform or Multitrack. And exactly what happens in the software when you try. Does the transport move? Do you just get silence?
