Adobe Audition Build 14.1.0.43: Keeping PEAK files from being saved into same folder as audio files

I've just completed re-editing 180 audio files using Audition: I couldn't figure out a way to keep the PEAK software-specific files from being saved into the same folder as the audio files. In a perfect world, there would be a Preference Setting allowing user to direct these files to be save in a different folder from which the files can be opened when the audio file is opened by user.

I'm afraid it's not a perfect world; it's a binary one...  Peak files are either saved or not saved. Unless the files are large, there isn't much point these days in saving them - loading times are loads shorter than they used to be. Nobody's ever going to have an option to store them in a different folder, simply because there's no means of identifying where that folder is in the original file's metadata; relinking to a different folder would probably take longer than leaving Audition to recreate the file anyway!
