Adobe Audition CC 2018 not closing (Windows 7)

I've had a consistent problem after using Adobe Audition that it won't close.   If I try to close it from the menu or from the "X" in the upper-right corner of the screen the whole Adobe Audition window grays out and it reports as "Not Responding" in its title bar and in Task Manager.  I end up having to terminate its process in Task Manager.   This happens about 80% of the time, the other times it closes normally.

 

Whats up with this?

In five days I've had only 12 views and no responses.    Is this the wrong forum to post Adobe Audition questions to?    Is there a more active forum for Adobe Creative Cloud discussions?

To state the obvious, perhaps, you are using an old version of AA on an OS that its manufacturer no longer supports.  I suspect no-one has answered because, either, they run a later version of the app and OS, or, they really have no idea of what the problem could be, or, both!

 

I realise this is NOT what you wanted to hear but, short of using the trick that resets AA to its "vanilla" settings, starting the app with the Shift key held down (note you will lose any customised settings), I suspect there may be no other solution to offer.
