Adobe Audition Picks Up Sound Before I Hit Record

Hi All,

To elaborate a bit more, it seems that Adobe Audition picks up noise about half a second or so before I actually hit the record button. It always picks up the mouse click when I hit the record button, but if I'm even talking right before hitting record it picks that up too.

Any idea why Adobe Audition picks up about a half second or so of audio before I even hit the record button and how to stop this?

I'm using an El Gato Wave:3 microphone and I closed the Elgato Wave Link software in case that was interfering, but it didn't help.

Appreciate any help or suggestions!

It's the record buffer, and you wouldn't want to stop it even if you could (you can't...). This is a common feature on many portable recorders and is especially useful when making live actuality recordings - you can catch things you'd otherwise miss the start of. The difference is that on portable recorders it's a cyclic buffer (and usually longer) but in Audition, it isn't - it's just the way of smoothing out the feed from your sound device to Audition, which would otherwise be subject to the vagiaries of your operating system. If you shorten it, you tend to get nasty clicks.
