Adobe Audition records glitched out audio

I tried to record myself recently and for some reason, the audio just came out messed up, like REALLY messed up, it was glitchy and distorted, it never happened to me before. I'm using an AT4040 condenser microphone and a Focusrite 2i2 audio interface,

does anyone know how to solve this problem?
