Question

Always Waiting (0%)

Am I missing something? Is there a way to view the processes that are queued up for Audition to complete because it seems at some point I always reach the stage where everything I try and do, including save, just pops up a box that says 'Waiting...' and the process stays at 0%.

Obviously, as this includes saving, I end up losing my work as I can't actually complete the save, or any other process.

Can I see what it's waiting for? And even more importantly can I kill a bad task in the queue that's causing my entire Audition to seize up?

From your description, I would guess you're using an effects rack in Waveform (destructive editing) view?

Anyway, the is far from normal behaviour.  What I might suggest as an experiment is trying just the first effect in your rack and seeing what happens.  If even one effect causes the wait, then we have to look for problems in your system or Audition installation.

However, if one works okay, then gradually add each effect one at a time and see if you get to an effect that's the one causing problems.  Then we can see if we can figure out why there a problem.

Note:  I'd work with a copy of your track and be careful with the use of 'Save As" or undo as you eperiment.

I haven't even got as far as the effects rack, to be honest. I'm editing a podcast and after importing the audio I process them for matching loudness and then enable essential sound. If I make it past essential sound processing the files I'll begin with creating noise profiles for the tracks and I've never managed to make it through noise reduction on all tracks before I get the lock.

I've seen this 'waiting' issue before - and I have to say that I don't think it's caused by Audition, as it happens with other software too. At present, my prime suspect is the OS - especially if you're running Windows 10. Do I know what's causing it? No I don't, but I'd like to know too...

One thing you might like to check though is the the setting in Edit>Preferences>Memory relating to the amount of installed RAM, and how much is available for other apps. You need to make sure that Audition has the lion's share of it available!
