Audio Dropouts: Adobe Audition 2019/Windows 10/Audient ID 14 Interface.

Hello--All of a sudden five days ago, I began having terrible glitches and dropouts with my audio. I am using Windows 10 and and Audient ID 14 interface. This mornng (4/22) everything was working fine. But tonight when I was recording, I am hearing bad glitches again. I have called support, they have adjusted my settings in both my audio hardware and audio recording files. Both are at 44.1/16, as are my playback settings. I can't understand why this suddenly happened? Any help would be more than appreciated.

What do you have the buffer size set to? Also, it's worth noting that if this happens at some times and not others, it is almost certainly a background process happening in your PC that's causing it by effectively stealing processing power from Audition. Typical culprits here are Wifi searching and anti-virus software doing scans, but it's also possible that the OS is doing awkward things like altering the size of temp files. If you look around, you'll find that there are sites that will tell you how to optimise your PC for audio recording, and it's well worth taking the steps they give you - things generally improve significantly after you've curtailed Microsoft's attempts to stop you using your machine the way you want to!

Thank you Steve! Turns out my PCI Lan card was the culprit and needed disabling. Thanks for your time. Really thinking of going to Mac, Windows presents numerous challenges as you alluded to. Have a great weekend.

I should point out that Macs are a) expensive and b) certainly not immune to significant OS problems, as a search around this forum will reveal. I'd say that it was out of the frying pan, into a pretty expensive fire...
