Audio edits undo themselves after saving.

Sorry if this has been addressed. I've searched, but couldn't find an answer. I've used Audition for 20 years and this happens often enough, in the last year especially.  I'm cleaning up audio (talk) and save constantly along the way. But when I make another pass, sometimes I notice that things I've definitely done are no longer fixed. For instance, I've gone through (all this in waveform mode) and taken out splosives (individually, by hand). Listening later, many splosives are back! I keep the History window closed, so I know I'm not hitting anything in there accidentally.. The files themselves are mono and sometimes as short as a minute, and sometimes long, like 10 minutes. I usually use the latest edition.  Has this happened to anybody else?
