Audio getting stretched out and super low

Hello. I need help!! I'm trying to upload an audio MP3 file to Audition. it's 16 minutes long but it stretches the audio out where it's a super low sounding voice playing half the speed and missing the other half of the audio. It plays fine on my computer and other files upload fine. no clue what the problem is. please help!!!

Couldn't possibly tell without seeing the actual file - but it sounds as though there might be a metadata error in it, so it's being reported as one thing, but actually it's something completely different. Not unknown. Since Audition is capable of decoding a large number of different formats into wav files (that's how it works), then it tends to read things literally. What can I say? A lot of software players behave 'differently'...
