Audio Hardware disconnecting while a recording or editing session

Hope that someone can help me with this!

I work with my Mas OS (Now on Sierra), Audition and my Duet from Apogee Hardware since 2 years now. No Problems until this last week.

Now my Duet disconnect during session. It might be a Buffer size problems.. But I changed nothing in my preferences.

I confess, I continue to learn editing so maybe it's easy to fix, but your help may save my day!

The problem also seem to start as the moment I update mu Audition to C.S.7

    I never had an issue before. I would have 3-4 programs open - not all adobe - and switch between them and the driver handed off fine.

    The last update (or maybe 2) was when the problem showed up.


    That's troubling, but it's still got to be driver-related.  I've gone through every Audition upgrade and the way it approaches sound hardware has not changed for quite some time.  Settings, well they can change intentionally or unintentionally all the time.

    Having multiple programs open at once and switching off OK may be related to some or all of them NOT using ASIO.

    In Audition's Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware page, do you have any options under "Device Class" you haven't tried?  Also, do you ever see a "Take exclusive control" option that is checked?

    Dear Nathalie,

    I'm going to take a guess here, and so could be completely wrong.  I don't think it has to do with your update to the newer Audition.  The only time I've had problems like this was when some connectors in my computer were loose and easily disrupted, seemingly at random.  Since you've been using this computer for over 2 years, maybe it's time to open it up and clean the dust out and make sure everything's connected solidly.  If you've never done anything like that, maybe a computer professional would fit your budget.  In any case, I think this is a hardware problem, not software, but again, I could be wrong.

    I have been having issues with my audio hardware as well. I replaced the cables and re-installed the driver, but neither helped. The problem is exacerbated when switching between Adobe apps. When I am running Premiere and switch to Audition the hardware goes offline about 90% of the time. If I switch between ASIO and MME in the hardware selection in Audition it will usually come back, but not always. I often have to unplug and re-plug the hardware. I'm on Win7 and using a Behringer 4x4 interface.

    Brian, only one program can have access to the ASIO driver at a time, so this is a normal side effect of using ASIO, which I'm assuming you are.  Anything else gets locked out, OR there's usurping going on.  If it's any comfort, I can't use Audition and Premiere at the same time unless I'm in a Windows-based driver mode (MME, WASAPI).
