Audio issues when duplicating a sequence

When I duplicate a sequence, the audio in the duplicate sequence distorts and crackles and is unusable.  If I save the project, close and reopen in it, the audio in the duplicate sequence works fine.  If I create a new sequence and copy everything over, the audio works fine.  It is only when I duplicate and it happens every time.  Visually, the audio track looks fine, I can see the waveform and it is the right colour, just audibly there is an issue.  The main sequence is never affected, the audio is still good in that one.  Any ideas on how to fix this?  Opening and closing the project is a work-around but not an ideal solution.
