Audio poping on play

Wheneven i have an audio clip loaded in audition and press the play button the audio cuts really loudly over the audio clip and is then fine. it doesnt change the file or anything like that but it makes it hard to edit smaller portions because i have to go back 5 extra seconds to hear it because the clip is crackling up until that point. it didnt happen before about a week ago but its every time i press the play button to listen to a clip. the audio files sound fine when played through any other software its just with audition. Thank you

I dont know how to delete this post but i literally just found the solution. my latency was turned down, once i raised it to the defult level it fixed the issue. figured id post my own solution if someone else has this problem
