Audition 2022 – How do I copy ALL session settings and preferences with zero linked audio files?

When I duplicate a session and try to remove old, unused clip references, which I’ll never need in the future, it warns me it’ll delete these references in every other session in which they're used, and it cannot be undone. This is ludicrous. I didn't believe it would actually gut a previous session, but lo and behold it did! How does this make sense? I reverted to backup. Disaster averted.

But now I'm terrified. I want to save the layout, track names, the base starting time code of 10:00:00:00, etc., as a template. And it should not have any baggage from previous sessions.

What do I do?

Start from scratch. Create a new session using a blank template (none), add whatever you want to it - really doesn't matter what. Go to File>Export>Session As Template, give it a name and save it. Whatever you do in this empty session will get saved, nothing else gets trashed, and when you use it next it will look just the same. Finally, close the session you made the template in without saving it - you don't need it any more!
