Audition 3.0.1 patch won't install

3.0 works fine.  3.0.1 patch won't install.  I download it off the site, save it, click on it, popup asks permission to install, click on that...it's gone.  I've downloaded it twice off the site this month; I also have a copy of it already from years back when I first installed 3.0...which installed fine. 

 

I only uninstalled it in the first place, to re-install 3.0, to fix a problem.  Now I can't get 3.0.1 back; it just doesn't re-install.

Yup, that's about right - Windows 10, and exactly the same thing happened here, and I can't get the patch to install either - it just loops around the start. And this is a completely withdrawn product, so there's zero chance of getting any official help about it...

Oddly though:

1) I'm still using the same Windows 7 Pro machine on which it installed years ago with no incident.

2) I still have the 3.0.1 patch download from years ago when I first added it to 3.0 to begin with, when they were supporting it...and that worked. 

3) I've also downloaded it twice since then, from the same page on the Adobe site in the past month, and the patches appear to be virtually the same...down to the file size.

 

They just won't open when you click permission for Adobe to change the computer.

 

So why would the same thing happen to your fresher download, as the one I've had for over a decade.
