Audition CC 2018 won't export to Premiere Pro

As the title suggests, I'm having an issue where I can't get Audition to export audio files back to Premiere Pro.

Usually when I'm in Premiere Pro I can "edit in audition", do my editing in the multitrack sequence (in this case, extend the audio using the remix function) and then export it back to Premiere Pro. Everything was working fine until one day it wasn't.

Now when I export to Premiere it looks like Audition is loading, but Premiere Pro never opens up and the audio track never appears. I am also unable to select the check box "Open in Adobe Premiere Pro" because it is greyed out. Seems like something is funky with the link between Premiere and Audition but I'm not sure what. What's funny is going from Premiere to Audition is no problem, only going back from Audition to Premiere is where I see the issue.

Any ideas?

    Running the latest and greatest of both on Windows 10 Pro, and this is a brand spankin' new problem for me.

      It's not really my field of expertise, but I do recall that in the past, various things about the round trip have been known not to work properly when the Audition and Premiere versions were not 'aligned', as it were. Are you running both apps in their latest versions, or just Audition?

        Audition CC 2018 isn't the latest version. There has been an update to CC 2019 for Audition and, I believe, Premiere as well. If you haven't already you will need to update them both for the round trip to work.

          I understand that but I was holding out on updating to give some time for all of the "kinks" to be worked out. Last thing I want to do is upgrade and have to deal with bugs (even though apparently CC 2018 still has them) when I have projects that need to be completed.
