Question

Audition CC crashes when effects are applied[macOS]

For some reason suddenly, if I try an apply anything from Auditions effects and processes - EQ, Compression, etc etc, Audition crashes immediately.

Any third party plug-ins seem to be fine!

Nothing has changed on the MAC. I am running the latest OS and have been for a while.

I'm using Audition CC ver 6, bought as a stand alone. And yes I'm very happy with it (until now!) and not really wanting to enter into the creative cloud bit for this app just yet.

Any help, appreciated.

    Hi jamesh,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand you are using the first CC version of Adobe Audition on macOS and it crashes for you every time you apply an effect to your session.

    • Did you check the link shared by @SteveG(Audio Masters)?
    • Do you get any error code or notification at the time of the crash?
    • Did you test the issue with a new project and audio file?

Also, I'd like to know if there is any particular reason for not updating Adobe Audition to the latest version.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Shivangi

    Hi,

I think I sent the right log file through, although some exact

instruction as to where and what that is would be helpful.

No error code of notification when it crashes. It's just as if I've

    closed the program.

Yes, I have tested it with various audio files and new projects.

    Many thanks

    James

Points 6 and 7 in the first post of the FAQ cover this, although I should say that in the case of this happening on a Mac there isn't a lot of point in posting the log in this thread, as most of us aren't Mac users. Unless it's something blatant of course... we might spot that!

If you are having crash issues, then you will have to try to extract the relevant information about what's happening from the Audition log file. We have details about doing this for current versions, but whether they apply in exactly the same way to a much earlier version isn't clear - especially as it's on a Mac. But this is the only chance you have of getting a fix though - sending the log file to audbugs@adobe,com

The FAQ page with the basic information on it is here: Audition Crashed. Now what?
