Question

Audition CC NEVER closes properly

Every single time I open Audition, I get an error warning telling me that my previous session didn't close properly and I have to choose what to do. This is purely a minor irritant, but ignoring such things often leads to darker places ...

When I close the application, everything seems ok. Everything seems to work as it should and, most importantly, my work works and I love using the app!

Does anyone else have this bizarre issue and if so, does anyone know how to fix it?

My system is:

Mac Pro 5,1 3.33GHz 6-Core

48GB RAM

GTX 680 Mac (CUDA fully removed from system)

OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite

Adobe CC 2017 - fully updated

Everything works well on my entire system, just this odd glitch ...

Thanks for any help.

Best,

Dominic

There are a couple of things you might try. Firstly, start Audition with the 'shift' key held down. This will start it in 'vanilla' mode, and it will ignore all of your preferences settings. Start a new session as per normal, save it and then close the session and all ifs files, and then close Audition. Then restart it again with the shift key held down and see if you get the same message.

If it works fine without a warning, I'd ditch your present preferences folder and start again. If it doesn't work fine, there are two things to do: firstly uninstall and reinstall the app. If that doesn't clear the problem, then you'll need to send the log file it creates each time it runs to the developers, so that somebody can ascertain what's happening. To get all the details you need about that, you need to read the 'crash' FAQ: Audition Crashed. Now what?

Thank you, Steve. That's very useful! I had no idea about the 'vanilla' mode. I will try that and report back.

I have the same problem--the good news being that it's never developed any further or caused and problems.  You can try hitting "Delete" instead of "Cancel" and if there's only a single unnecessary recovery file that might help.  However, if your experience is like mine, Steve's advice about ditching preferences is the only fix--and, for me, the problem comes back anyway so I just ignore it.

FYI, I've filed this as a bug report.
