Question

Audition CC W/o StereoMix Recording Webpages/Direct Sound

Good morning,

It appears in the latest version of Windows 10/RealTek Drivers the mixer 'StereoMix' has been removed, which appears to stop Audition being able to record webstream sound and direct local media. Does anyone have a workaround for this problem?

With Thanks

Jason

Have you checked by right clicking in the white space in Windows 10 Sound Recording page. It may just have been hidden. The right click drop down menu allows you to enable the showing of hidden and disconnected devices. Otherwise something like VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) is required to provide a digital link between playback software and recording into Audition.

Just to add you're lucky to have got this far with having "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear" as an option.  The RiAA has been lobbying computer manufacturers and operating system/sound card developers for several year now to eliminate this option in an effort to stop people copying music off line.

Virtual Audio Cable does indeed work but can be a pain to set up.  A second cheat is to use another device (for example your phone) to access the web stream you want, then plug that into your input jack.
