Question

Audition crashes when opening Premiere Pro files

Completely perplexed. Have a premiere pro file that I have already opened in Audition and successfully remixed and exported the soundtrack back to premiere pro. Now when I attempt to open that premiere pro file again so I can make some changes to the soundtrack, Audition crashes right after opening the Premiere Pro file. Have deleted the media cache for both programs, rebooted the computer and saved the premiere pro file as a new file, yet Audition still crashes like clockwork. Any suggestions? Using the latest versions of both Premiere Pro and Audition on a 64 gig SDRAM AMD Threadripper windows 10 machine. No other programs open at the time.

We'd need to see the Audition crash log to find out where this fails - you should be able to get this from the Help menu.

This fails at the point where AuCEPSupport is invoked. That's basically a .dll failing, although there is no indication of why. The only sensible thing you can do at this stage is to uninstall Audition using the CCcleaner tool, which you will find here. This removes rather more of the installation than a Windows uninstall does, and is probably your best shot at a fix at this stage. It's also possible that Premiere is doing something to the transfer that it shouldn't be, so it might be worth reinstalling Premiere using the same cleaner tool. If none of this works, then we'll turn it over to the developers...
