Question

Audition doesn't recognize microphone (internal or external)

I have an apollo twin interface that I connect my mic through, and for some reason Audition won't pick up sound at all. I've made sure the I/Os are all showing Apollo, but even when I disconnected the interface altogether, and set the inputs/outputs to internal mic and speakers, the tool still won't pick up the mic at all.

I've tested my mic with/without the interface in a different recording software and i had no problem recording and playing back.

Help please! What am i doing wrong?

If you are trying to record in Multitrack, then you need to assign a specific input to the actual track you are recording on:

If that isn't it, you'll have to tell us in detail how you've got it all set up.

Two fairly important bits of necessary info missing. Which operating system are you using and has it updated itself recently? Also which version of Audition? Both Win 10 and Mojave are known to turn off all microphone inputs due to default privacy settings after the update/upgrade.

I was assuming that it wasn't that, as the OS can't turn off an external device's mic channel (as per thread title)...
