Question

Audition freezes when opening Multitrack sessions

Audition crashed while I was recording in a multitrack containing a bunch of already edited stuff. Now when I try to re-open that multitrack session it begins loading in the audio files and freezes at around 4%. I can still play the individual recordings with windows media player. I have tried opening other multitacks but the couple I've tried seem to be having the same issues. I have tried individully importing audio files into a blank multitrack, but it freezes up after I have loaded 4 or 5 of them. I've tried clearing the cache, reasigning the temp files loaction but nothing has worked. I have also tried opening this file on a friends PC with Audition installed (it is saved on a portable hard drive along with all the audio files) but this had the same problem. When Audition freezes I'm not able to use task manager to end the task, as it seems to have no effect, and have to reboot my PC. The only thing I can think of that I havent tried is reinstalling audition. Does anyone know how I can open this multitrack? I put several hours into editing the audio and I'm not even sure I could do it again now that Audition isn't letting me import all the audio files.

The first thing you should do is at least attempt to find out why Audition crashed - there's information about how to do that here. If you can post the fault log file into this thread as text, then we might be able to figure out what's happened. Otherwise it has to go to audbugs@adobe.com  from where you may or may not get an answer...

If the session won't open on other machines, then almost certainly the session file is corrupted. The best person to look at that around here is SuiteSpot, who may well spot this thread. We'll see.

As for reinstalling, it's best to uninstall first using the Adobe CCcleaner app. This clears out a load of stuff that a normal uninstall via Windows wouldn't, and therefore gives you a cleaner base to reinstall from.
