Question

Audition is . . . slow

9 times out of 10 these days when I turn my computer on (Windows 10) and start Audition, it is very slow to perform several tasks, notably opening and closing files, cutting, copying, normalizing, and running effects racks. I can't seem to figure out why or how to get it running properly - it usually goes back to "normal" at some point, but often it takes a while (sometimes as much as a day or more). I've tried everything I can think of: closing and reopening the program, uninstalling & reinstalling it, putting the computer to sleep and then waking it up, restarting, not having any other apps or anything else open, etc. - but nothing seems to fix it. I don't think it's an issue with my computer because everything else works just fine - in fact in preparation for this post I tried it on another computer (my laptop, also Windows 10) with the same result: Audition performs abnormally slowly but everything else works just fine. As someone who spends several hours a day working with Audition this is pretty frustrating because it is costing me lots of time, so if anybody can point me to a solution, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,

Brian

Others have noted similar behaviour - apparently it's under investigation. One thing you can try is to download the Audition beta version from the CC app and see if that's an improvement. It might well be, and also it fixes the issue of multitrack session files being set to off-line when they shouldn't be. The only difference with the beta version is that usage is monitored, and there are a couple of diagnostic tools that you can ignore - other than that, it's identical.

Thank you Steve - I'll give that a try, and hope that if it's a common problem it gets fixed soon. I'm at least glad to know that it's not just me experiencing this!

I appreciate your help.
