Audition keeps turning my microphone system volume down

Audition keeps turning my microphone system volume down.

I have my microphone volume set to 90% (in windows 10). When I load Audition, it drops my microphone volume drops to 50% which is too quiet for Audition to record properly. I then have to manually go into the windows sound settings each time to turn it back up.

There are a few applications which can do this, and which I have fixed one by one, but I cannot find the setting in Audition to disable this action.

I've changed the microphone setting so that applications cannot take exclusive control.

Any ideas??
