Audition - no waveband or sound produced

Hi

This may well be the oddest question about Audition - but here goes. I have just used Audition for the first time after consulting the basics tutorials on YouTube. I clicked on File>New>Audio File and filed in the fields. I then went to Preferences>Audio Hardware and saw that Built in Microphone was listed, which is my choice on my MacBook Pro. I then clicked on the red record button and spoke and...zilch! No waveband appeared on my screen, nor was there any sound. I then went on to GarageBand and checked that the microphone was working. If someone could shed light on this I would be very grateful.

Also if Mojave is your current OS then Audition may not have permission to use the built in mic. If so see the FAQ Have you updated your Mac to Mojave 10.14.1? Do you have no audio in now?

Did the transport move? In other words, did the cursor move across the screen when you pressed Record?

Thanks for your reply. I have followed the link you provided - preferences>security - and put a check mark next to Audition. It now records properly. Many thanks.
