Audition not reading Microphone

I am at a loss. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe audition and purchased a brand new Audio Interface (Zoom UAC-2) because I thought maybe my old Tascam just wasnt supported. My issue is thast when I open Audition to record a new track my microphone shows no signal level, and does not come through in audition for recording. I have downloaded Reaper, and have a free Cubase with my audio interface but I use Premier Pro to edit all of my videos, so I want this to work badly. I have looked up online to make sure settings are correct and it appears as I have done nothing wrong in the set-up process. When I open Reaper it reads my mic with no problems, so I think I am missing something here.

You have to do three things before you can record in Multitrack view: you have to set the input on the channel to the source you want to use, then you have to record-enable the track with the R button (so the box glows red) and then you have to select Record on the transport to start it. Have you done all three of these things? I'm only asking because on the face of it, there is nothing wrong with your hardware settings. (You have to select the source before you hit R)
