Audition Not Responding

I've just purchased a new computer for work which I use Adobe Auditon on. The app generally launches anywhere between 5-10 seconds. However, the issue occurs when I try to open audio (both from the local drive and network locations), the program freezes/hangs for a long time until it finally loads up.

Then any edits or changes made with effects seem to take a long time to complete on a 2 minute audio file.

Same problem when I try to close the audio file in Audition, it hangs for a little while and then closes it.

I'm on the latest version of Audition (13.0.2.35) and I've tried the following;

  • Uninstall and re-install using the Creative Cloud Cleaning Tool
  • Resetting the preferences
  • Deleting Media Cache
  • Disable Extensions

Any ideas on what I could try?

The ONLY OSX version that is solid is AA CC 2017. All releases after that make the EFX processing window hang for ever - totally unusable!

Is this on a Mac or a PC?

Hi Steve,

It's a Windows 10 PC - Intel I3 9th Gen Processor.

I've also tried the renaming of the Audition folder so that it creates a new data folder.

There have been several reports of similar things happening with W10 - on the face of it, it seems to be able to grab a lot of resources whenever it wants. It's almost certainly worth optimising the performance specifically for audio, and googling that will give you plenty of clues as to what to do: Google search about optimising W10 for audio

Getting loading feed delays from remote drives is normal; it's always best to have the wav files on a local machine to work on them, and the same goes for saving - don't ever save over network drives, as it's likely to fail. Save the file locally and transfer the file, rather than doing a save.
