Audition on Mac not recording audio from USB mic

I plug in my CAD GXL 2400 USB mic into my macbook pro. In apple settings, I have selected it as the input and the meter shows that it is reading properly.

In audition, I choose CAD GXL2400USB under "Default Input"

In multitrack, I set the input to the same CAD GXL2400USB and I click the "R" button. But the meter never shows any input. Hitting the record button records nothing but silence.

I am at a loss.
