Audition playback issues

I installed CS5.5 on a laptop running Windows 10. I cannot initiate audio playback with either the play button or space bar. Audio in Premiere Pro works fine. I tried an uninstall/reinstall with no change. Any ideas?

You need to make sure that your sound device is seen correctly by Audition - that's the only thing that stops the transport working.

So go to Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware and make sure it's assigned. You may also have to check the Device Class setting to find an appropriate driver.

Thanks. That worked. However now I notice that the record button and "R" buttons on each track are grayed-out and I cannot record. I have my mic connected and selected in "audio hardware" and can hear myself on the headset when I talk into the mic. Again, any ideas?
