Audition plays spoiler note over audio file

On the latest version of Audition, it plays a low piano note when the program is opened, or returned to, and each time I play the file from any point in the file, the program overlays a high pitched piano note (about 2k) with a long reverb tail as a spoiler.  Does anyone know how to remove these infuriating "features"?

Thanks all. Problem resolved but not exactly solved with an uninstall and reinstall of an earlier version of Audition. Strangely, the overlayed sounds are not ones that I've ever used as I mainly edit dialogue.

IMO it could be one of two things
Some audio caught in the buffer of one of your FX (Steve Slate Trigger would sometimes do it to me)
Or a VST where your licence has run out (or damaged, etc) and is now running in demo mode

The fact that there are two different notes inclines me to think that it's not buffer-related, and because it starts with the prog, it's unlikely to be caused by a VST...

I once had a similar problem with Premiere and this was caused by a hardware controller using the pc onboard midi synth that I had mistakenly setup as a return channel.

Well, I'm not sure what's happening, but I am pretty sure that whatever it is, it's not caused directly by Audition. The only thing within the program itself that can create noise is the metronome, so unless you've done something strange with that... But no, it doesn't contain a spoiler mechanism, even if you exceed the trial period. At that point, it just refuses to run at all.
