Audition Update Erased Presets

Hello all, so the auto-update to Audition 13.0.0.519 didn't carry over all my presets that I made up to this point.  I went into File/Import/Application Settings and found both my EffectPresets.xml and Favorites.xml files but when I try to load them I am given the following error message:

The file Favorites.xml could not be imported as application settings due to an unknown error.

Has anyone else come across this?  I really need those settings because they have been used for a large video project that I am in the middle of and can't move forward until I have those settings back.  Recreating them would be an enormous effort and probably impossible to get to the exact same settings. I guess I could try to roll back to a previous version maybe?

Also as a side note, is anyone else tired of Adobe as a company?  I feel like I am constantly dealing with problems like this but because they have a monopoly on the creative industry I have to keep using their products regardless.  They are like the Microsoft of creative software and don't have to care about their users at all.
