Question

Audition v10 - how to select destination folder?

When I use "File | New | Audio File" to create a new single-track file, there is no way to browse / set for the destination folder!  In contrast, the very similar "File | New | Multitrack Session" offers a normal "Browse" path box.  Worse, there seems to be no way on any other menu to set the destination for a new audio file.

I must be missing something, but the manual and Help just say "Create a new audio file" and then get on with recording, editing etc.

When you create a new audio file, you're recording in Waveform mode which simply creates a temporary file in whatever place you've specified in the Edit/Preferences section.  The new recording isn't actually saved until you use the Save As command.  At this point you'll get a method to browse and select where you want the file stored.

The other solution is to create a Multitrack session and record that way.  This both allows you to specify where the recording is stored and also records directly to disk so you don't need to remember to save at the end to preserve your work.
