Audition will not recognize my mixer

Hey guys!

I'm fairly new here but not a total newb to the Audition world. I've been using Audition for about a month with a USB to PC mic set up and just recently switched to using an audio mixer. My microphones are Behringer and the mixer is also Behringer. I received my mixer and all the new cables on Friday, Jan. 25th. As soon as it arrived I set it all up and it worked like a charm. It was great. When I was done, I unplugged everything and put it away neatly.

Two days later, today, I go back into my office and plug everything in the exact same way I had it on Friday...and Audition will not pick up any of the audio coming from my mixer. My mixer is definitely picking up sound, I can see it on the device, but my program is receiving none of it. I have been messing with settings for about an hour now and I'm pretty close to losing my entire mind.

I can upload images and screen shots of anything you want to see so you can better help me.

Will the splitter at least resolve it a little bit in the short run? I'm probably going to be buying a new computer here in the next few weeks as this one is just a bit too slow for the things I want to use it for. Even if I have to reset some things whenever I boot up to use it for a few weeks that's not a big deal to me, I just want it to record my damn voice haha!


No the splitter won't help at all. Your problem is that the socket is either one thing or another - it can't be both at the same time. What you have to do is reassign that socket as an input every time it disappears like that. And then you'll have no means of monitoring either, which will be even more of a pain.

Alright SteveG(AudioMasters)​ and ryclark​, I've got my new Behringer  Q1202 mixer here and it is definitely picking up audio from both mics. But we have a wonderful new problem.

When I'm in Audition (or any other audio program for that matter) both inputs are going into one track. So, for example, I have Host set for Input 1 and Interview set for Input 2...but both Host and Interview are picking up from Input 1. Does that make sense? I want to Host to be recording Input 1 and Interview to be recording Input 2. I've watched lots of videos on how to set this up and according to every video I've watched I'm doing exactly what I should be.

Help!!!

The mixer outputs in stereo, so all you need to do is use the pan controls on it to split where the two mic signals are going. Pan one mic hard left and the other hard right, and just record the stereo output, only it won't really be 'stereo' as such but a two-channel recording if you do it like this. Easy to split this into two separate files afterwards in Audition, if that's what you need to do.

If you are trying to record in Multitrack mode, then make sure that an input is assigned on the channel you want to record on, or nothing at all will happen:

This is what it looks like on my laptop, but if your mixer is recognised, its output(s) should be a record option you can select. If this isn't the problem, report back.

Hey SteveG(AudioMasters)!

Thanks for getting back to me. I've attached a few images here. Something my husband and I noticed when we were watching YouTube videos to try to figure this out is that my PC only has one audio/mic jack and it's one input, not two. I hope I explained that correctly. I am running on an HP all-in-one that is just over a year old. I've included a photo of the back of my computer so you can see what I'm working with there. I do have a splitter coming in the mail tomorrow so that I can have two ports instead of the one, my husband is hoping that will solve this problem but I'd like to know what you think about that as well.

Which Behringer mixer are you using? Which of the connections on the back of your computer is the mixer plugged into? Also it would help to see what settings you have in Audition's Audio Hardware set up page.
