I want to use my MIDI instrument with audition, but do not find any solution to add a MIDI track in Audition (latest CC version). How can I use MIDI devices in Audition?

I find this forum and the users very helpful, they always give helpful advice and go out of their way to help you, you will find the same users helpful here also:

I'm afraid you can't - Audition is fundamentally editing software, not music creation software. You can record and edit acoustic music on it, certainly - but MIDI it doesn't do, and certainly won't for the foreseeable future. This has been discussed at some length previously, as a forum search will reveal.

You have to bear in mind that Adobe, and the CC suite, is fundamentally about pictures and visual stuff - even Audition as it is, is seen as a bit of an add-on - albeit a pretty necessary one. MIDI certainly doesn't feature highly in this scenario, despite a limited number of requests for it.

Audition 3 had a basic MIDI implementation - but it really was pretty basic and wasn't deemed worth spending the effort on to improve it, so it was dropped when the software was fundamentally rewritten to be dual-platform.

Since Audition supports third-party developers who can create add-ons for it, then technically there's nothing to stop anybody developing a MIDI system for it. But the real demand is so small, and it's a lot of work. Chances are that any MIDI system, wherever it came from, would always be playing catch-up with much more developed apps like Reaper - which a lot of Audition users use, incidentally.

Just to expand on Steve's reply, a number of us have intermittent need for MIDI and get around the problem by using a programme that does MIDI, then exports the needed files to wave for incorporation into an Audition project.   I've used Sonar and now Ableton and know of somebody else who uses Reaper.

Also, if you want MIDI, I suggest you submit a formal feature request.  This sort of query is common on these forums and the people at Adobe DO pay attention to requests if they get enough of them.
