Audition won't save to external hard drives - Error 2

Question

I'm unable to export something to an external hard drive from Audition or Premiere. I get this error in Audition. I've tried exporting to another external hard drive and I get the same message, so it's not the hard drive, and they aren't full. When I export to my desktop it works perfectly fine.

This just started a few weeks ago but I don't know what I did to make it start. Anyone know how to fix this? Since it is happening in Premiere and Audition I'm not sure it has anything to do with the specific program...

When you say 'external', how external is this? If it's across a network connection, then traffic can cause this to happen. The safest way of dealing with it is to make the save initially on the local machine, and then transfer the file after the save has completed.
