Automated process of cutting a certain frequency

I welcome! I will try to explain what I want. I have audiofiles with an overload on low frequencies (from beat of a drum). Such sound beats ears. It is necessary to make so that not manually to lower the loudness of each peak of an overload of frequency. Is able to do it by means of some filter? To me sees so: to allocate the range of frequencies and to set cutting off level.

That's fine, except that anything that precise will cause extra phase shifts either side of the frequency you cut, and that any sound like that has harmonics, and you won't alter those. If you found a way of selecting the harmonics too, you'd also end up removing other parts of the spectrum that you wanted to keep. So you may think it's necessary, but actually it doesn't work; you can't un-mix a track on that basis, I'm afraid.

What I've suggested is a relatively phase-coherent method of reducing the drum part without affecting the bass overly. But as I said, I don't think it's necessary at all, really. One of the two things you really can't make a sensible decision about using any form of headphones is the amount of bass you've got. The other one, incidentally, is decisions about stereo positioning. When making decisions about mixes, headphones really aren't your friend, I'm afraid.


I achieve result necessary to me in manual (reducing the loudness of each beat of a drum), in fact very easy way. It is necessary to automate this process. The method offered by you of course won't work, I also don't argue with it. Other approach is necessary.

One of the reasons that this file sounds bad is because it is overloaded. When you make an MP3, you always have to start with a master file that's about 1-2dB below peak level, otherwise this will occur. So if it's this actual file you're going to EQ, then reduce its level by 3dB first, and it will sound a lot cleaner.

But as to the sound itself - well I'll tell you that if you use Effects>Filter and EQ>Parametric Equaliser and create a curve which is a few dB down at about 200Hz, you will reduce the loudest part of the file. Once you've made it, you can save it as a preset. But in saying that, I don't think it actually improves the sound at all, which is why you really don't want to go down more than about 5dB with it. This is what it should look like:

This mp3 file was for sale in the store. Consequently, the sound was created in the studio. And I use studio monitor headphones without amplifying the bass.
