Automating the Master Bus

The inserts on my Master Bus are pre-fader.  Okay, if I automate levels on the Master Bus, that means the level hitting those plugins on the Master Bus will not change, right?  Just the output of the Master Bus will change, right?  IOW, automation levels ARE fader levels, right?

So, for example, if I have a compressor on my master bus and I automate the master bus so that levels go up 1.5 dB, the compressor isn't getting hit any harder, right?

    A quick tests indicates that you are correct. The level hitting the rack inserted effect is not affected by adjusting the level on the Master track either manually or by automation.
