Autopitch: matching the pitch of vocals to the instruments, two separate tracks on multitrack

How can i match the pitch of the singer's vocals with the other instrumental track with a click of a button or other ways in audition or premiere pro ? I recall this being possible 15 years ago in some basic music software. Thank you.

It's possible to use the auto-tune function to adjust the pitch of a singer to a fixed key (and unless you're really careful it sounds like complete crap), but it's not possible to make it follow the pitch of other instruments - despite what you might think, that bit is almost rocket science, as generally pitch is really hard to extract from a mixed signal. The closest any software I'm aware of gets to letting you do sensible things with voice manipulation is Celemony's Melodyne - which will set you back €699.

Perhaps you'd like to tell us which software that was - it's certainly not possible in Audition, and never has been; it's not a very 'basic' function at all.

Hi Steve, I don't remember but it certainly would be an important function for singers or filmmakers or anybody who deals with musical compositions and certainly it doesn't sound like rocket science to have a function in a software to match the pitches of the recorded singing voice with the pitches of the existing musical instruments ?
