Question

Avoid clip links breaking for projects saved in dropbox?

I have a number of Audition projects saved in my dropbox. However since I have the dropbox folder located in different locations with different file paths on my work and home computer, this means if I open a project at home, all the clips will be unlinked and the project is unusable. Is there a way to make Audition reference the clips in a way that is relative to the location of the project file itself, rather than from the root directory up, so that I can use the same project on different machines?

I believe that the normal way to do this (and you are offered an option when you save the session file) is to keep the audio in the same folder as the session file. If that doesn't work for you, then I don't know what will, as it's the only option there is!

    Exactly.

I also use Dropbox to exchange files with people I'm working with/for.  Our method of working is to created a single folder that contains the .sesx filed along with all the sound data.  I then copy that whole folder to Dropbox and people at the other end extract it.

Being paranoid, I have a system whereby I have a particular location on my hard drive (C: Music) where I put all my project folders and have people at the other end work the same way.  I suspect Audition might be clever enough to reference everything in the folder wherever you locate it but I must admit to never getting around to trying it.
