Question

bad microphone, not able to rerecord

Hi, the audio I want to cleanup sounds like there is interference in the microphone when the person talks... it only happens when the person talks so I can't capture a noise print at all in Audition. Can I have someone listen to a clip and make suggestions? I have tried to figure this out on my own and just don't know what to do to make it better and I can 't re-record it.

Thank you

I'm afraid that this is the sort of thing that it's just about impossible to do anything with. The speaker was too close to the mic, the mic itself sounds as though it was moving about or brushing on something, and there are plosives. You might be able to fix the plosives a bit (the 'popping' noises) but you'd have to go through them individually and use something like the auto-heal favorite on them - and you'd give up pretty soon, because there are a lot - even just in your sample.

The problem is that essentially, the sound is distorted. And because there's no reference to what it should sound like, there's no means to fix it, and that's a universal problem - no software around can do anything about that. A lot of things can be fixed, but that sort of dynamic distortion, I'm afraid isn't one of them. Do all of the rest of the pannelists sound as bad?

Thank you Steve. No, thank goodness, the rest of the people's audio is better. Thank you for looking into it. 🙂
