Bar Mitzvah sound recording loaded with delay and vocal feedback.

Question

Hi. A friend of my family gave me a video recording of their child's Bar Mitzvah ceremony, recorded by the Temple where the ceremony took place. To the family's horror, the soundtrack is awful. Forgive the lack of the technical term, but the audio is repeated a split second after it is heard the first time, and as the repeat is heard, the volume drops suddenly. It's like hearing the audio, and then a split second later, hearing a delay of that audio. The Temple doesn't know what happened, and the family is devastated and asked me if there is anything that I can do even slightly to improve the sound. I have tried a few things, but to no avail, as I have never dealt with anything quite like this before. Are there any suggestions? I would be very grateful.

Hi David,Short answer no I'm afraid. Also, it depends what you mean as "even slightly"You could try the DeReverb tool at high levels or repeated small levels and seeif you hear a small amount of improvement.It may help if you process the two voices individually.I'm certainly unable to get an acceptable result here on your sample. What I do hear is that the stereo tracks have delay between them so you may be better choosing theindividual channel you think is clearer and working on that.
