Question

Black Screen instead of video playback

Hi there, I was editing a project and playback was as you expect - press play, hear audio, see video.

Suddenly whenever I press play I hear audio but video playback is just a black screen. The video file is still there as I scrub but as soon as I hit play I just see a black screen.

I have cleared cache, rebooted, looked through preferences but I am at a loss. Video attached

Audition 14.4.0.38

Windows 10 Pro

64GB RAM

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core Processor

Very Late Edit: So I reformatted the file to something smaller, I can't remember what, maybe mp4 or whatever and brought the file back in and it played normally. .

I hope this helps anyone still stuck

Did you ever manage to sort this? I'm having the same issue. Graphics drivers upto date. It was playing, and then suddenly just stopped showing picture.

Over the last few months there have been quite a few complaints about this, one way or another. The first thing to check is to see if there's an updated video driver available for your machine; Windows updates have forced some manufacturers to have to release updated drivers almost on a weekly basis, so you might need to check often. There is no guarantee that this will fix it, but you need to check this first.
