Question

Can effects settings be recovered from an audio file?

I do narration for e-Learning. I record and save in a .wav file, then apply my effects, edit, and save as an mp3.

Recently IT swapped out my computer. I assumed they'd just transfer my programs from the old machine to the new one, but they loaded a new copy of Audition on the new computer. Now I'm trying to recover my settings so new files sound like previous recordings.

Is there a way to open an older recording and see what the settings of the various effects were that were applied to it?

I know it's a long shot, but I figured I'd ask.

Thanks.

No, unfortunately this just isn't possible. However if your IT department still has your old computer they should be able to recover your Audition Settings folder from it to allow you to copy it across onto your new computer. This should bring back a lot of your customisation for working in Audition.

    Thanks. I'm checking with them.
