Can not record audio, audition is studdering/lagging

Hello, recently I noticed that I no nlonger can record audio in Audition, the hardware is the same and and I have not changed any settings. I used to be able to record audio on this machine before.

I noticed that the playhead and counter is studdering, it moves then stops, moves the stops and no audio is recorded. It doesn't matter if I use an USB mic or the computers internal mic.

I have tried different setting but the problem is the same. Why is this happening? Is there an update on Windows 11 that causes this?
