Can't increase the volume in multitrack

In the multitrack session, none of the tools work at this point to create dots on the volume line to increase or decrease. I opened an earlier session that already has the fade outs, and still, I cannot see where the volume dots are to increase or decrease the volume in the tracks.

this is INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. Did I lock somehting somewhere accidentally? I have spent hours trying to figure this out at this point. Hopefully someone can help
